Rescue of a Girl from Prospective Trafficking at Indo-Nepal Border, Triveni

On April 16, 2023, our staff member at Triveni Border successfully rescued a 23-year-old young girl from prospective trafficking at the Indo-Nepal border in Triveni. This atricle is being published to provide details and the pictures associated with the incident and actions taken by our staff member.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., one of our staff members noticed a young girl trying to cross Nepal's border with a man. Our staff member suspected that she may be a victim of prospective trafficking. Our staff member immediately alerted the authorities, and a joint check was conducted by the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force Nepal, and Jyoti Community Development Service Nepal, which revealed that the man, who appeared to be approximately 35 years old and appeared suspicious, was attempting to transport the girl across the border under the pretense of providing her with a clothes-packing job. Our staff member continued to make inquiries and, after further investigation, it was determined that the man was involved in a networking business and had brought the girl along for the same purpose.

Sensing that something was amiss, our staff member took immediate action, and both the man and the girl were taken into protective custody by the authorities. The authorities subsequently launched an investigation into the incident. We are pleased to report that the girl is safe and unharmed. She has now been handed over to her guardian.

As a responsible organization, we take incidents like these very seriously and remain committed to preventing human trafficking and exploitation. We will continue to educate our staff members and work with the authorities to combat this heinous crime. We commend our staff member for her quick thinking and decisive action in potentially saving this girl from a life of exploitation and trafficking. The incident at the Indo-Nepal border in Triveni underscores the importance of our work in combating human trafficking. We remain committed to ensuring the safety of vulnerable individuals and preventing them from falling prey to trafficking.
