New Information & Counseling Center Opens in Attariya Kailali to Combat Human Trafficking
Attariya, Kailali District, Far Western Province of Nepal – In a concerted effort to combat human trafficking, the Jyoti Community Development Service Nepal (JCDS Nepal) has established an Information & Counseling Center in Attariya. The inauguration ceremony, held on April 2, 2024, saw the presence of esteemed dignitaries including Mr. Birendra Bhatta, Mayor of Godawari Municipality, DSP Ganga Thapa, Chief of the Area Police Office, Mr. Rajan Sunar, the founder and executive director of JCDS Nepal, staff members of JCDS Nepal Kailali branch, social workers, and local residents.
The newly inaugurated center, strategically located at the bus park of Attaria, marks a pivotal milestone in the fight against human trafficking in the region. Mayor Birendra Bhatta, in his inaugural address, emphasized the significance of the center, highlighting Attaria's pivotal role as a primary gateway and central hub within the region, making it susceptible to human trafficking activities. He urged for collaborative efforts between the police administration, local populace, and organizations to effectively combat the scourge of human trafficking and rescue victims ensnared in its grasp.Human trafficking, described as a heinous crime, encompasses a multitude of exploitative practices including coercion, deception, forced labor, sexual exploitation, and organ trafficking. The establishment of the Information & Counseling Center underscores the collective commitment to thwarting these nefarious activities and safeguarding vulnerable individuals from falling victim to such exploitation.
DSP Ganga Thapa, in his remarks, expressed his gratitude for the establishment of the Information & Counseling Center and pledged unwavering support from the Nepal Police in this noble campaign. Promising to provide as much assistance as possible from his side, DSP Thapa affirmed the commitment of law enforcement agencies to collaborate closely with JCDS Nepal and other stakeholders to combat human trafficking and ensure the safety and security of the community.
