BHARATPUR-11, CHITWAN — Marking a significant step toward women’s empowerment, self-reliance, and entrepreneurship, Jyoti Community Development Services Nepal officially inaugurated a 5-month Sewing and Tailoring Training Program on July 23, 2026.
The opening ceremony brought together local government leaders, community organizers, trainers and eager participants, all united by a shared vision: equipping women with marketable skills to foster economic independence.
High-Profile Leadership & Guest Presence
The inaugural event was chaired by Rajan Sunar, Founder and President of Jyoti Community Development Services Nepal.
Chitrasen Adhikari, Acting Mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, graced the event as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished guests included:
Sushila Wagle — Chief, Health and Social Development Division, Bharatpur Metropolitan City
Panchamaya Tamang — Head, NGO Coordination and Community Mobilization Branch, Bharatpur Metropolitan City

The event also saw the participation of key community leaders, including Kiran Khati (Founder/President of Navajivan Community Development Services), Jeevan Gahataraj (Program Coordinator, Jyoti Nepal), organization representatives Joseph Gahataraj and Rajendra B.K., lead trainer Prabha Century, trainees and local social workers.

Speaking at the event, Acting Mayor Chitrasen Adhikari commended Jyoti Community Development Services Nepal for its proactive role in driving self-employment and entrepreneurship among women at the grassroots level. He assured that Bharatpur Metropolitan City remains fully committed to supporting such transformative community projects.

Adding to this support, Sushila Wagle, Chief of the Health and Social Development Division, expressed her delight at Jyoti Nepal’s consistent track record of successfully running skill-development programs over the years. She announced that the municipality would actively collaborate by periodically monitoring the training center and recording the participants' progress to ensure the highest quality of learning.
